Flagstaff’s mountain‑FM fades behind you, the Mojave heat rises, and the radio shifts into soft‑rock shimmer, AM gold, desert pop, and early Laurel Canyon drift.  The Gremlin crosses the invisible border between “the West” and “California dreaming.”

Segment 9 has one of the strangest radio blends of the entire trip — part mountain‑FM, part desert AM gold, and part early‑bleed California. By the time you hit Barstow, you’re already hearing Los Angeles.
